Rebecca Joy x Dorte

Rebecca is a freelance textile and pattern designer based in Norwich, UK. She studied art, design, and textiles at university, where she developed a deep appreciation for the intricate details found in nature. Her primary inspiration comes from old specimen books of plants and animals, which is evident in the rich, detailed motifs she creates. Rebecca's love for bold colours and her passion for flower arranging play a significant role in her design process, infusing her work with vibrancy and life.

"Pink Fishes" is a captivating print that draws its inspiration from the illustrations found in historical books of British fish. Each fish is accompanied by its name, reflecting the detailed descriptions commonly seen in these vintage texts. The print features delicate dotting of seaweed and other subtle motifs, reminiscent of the botanical diagrams often found alongside these illustrations. Created using oil pastel and later refined and repeated in Photoshop, "Pink Fishes" is a harmonious blend of traditional artistry and modern design techniques.

This collaboration highlights the fusion of Rebecca's artistic vision with a commitment to preserving the charm of historical illustrations, resulting in a unique and visually stunning print.
